I caught the “running bug” in 2012 doing a 10k in 1 hour 20 with mates from work.
The same year I completed the Sheffield Half marathon in a time of 1:48:48.
Since then, I have completed events from 5k to 50 miles on road, cross county, trail and fell, with PBs of 5k 17:39, 10k 36:46, half marathon 1:23:26, marathon 3:28:55,
30 miles 4:25:05, 40 miles 7:21:15 and 50 miles 9:46:15
After joining a local running club and finding out about leading and coaching opportunities I went on to gain my Leadership in Running Fitness and Coaching in Running Fitness awards
Following on from gaining my awards, I started MattRunning and coached Couch-to-5k and 5K-to-10K courses as well as coaching individuals to reach their own goals.
I feel that running should be enjoyable for all and everyone has their own specific goals, whether that’s to complete 5k or 100 miles.
